Question: Is the rapid test  Keul-o-test Influenza A/B useful to detect the new Swine influenza?
Answer: The Keul-o-test Influenza A/B can distinguish between a and B-influenza viruses. Because the viruses of the new Swine influenza  belong to the A-viruses strain, the Keul-o-test Influenza A/B offers the advantage against other Influenza rapid tests without that differentation, that a Swine influenza is impossible by a infection by B-viruses.
If the test shows a infection with A-viruses further investigation are necessary to confirm or exclude a Swine influenza.

Question: How reliable are the rapid tests?

Question: Does the controls with human orgin offer a risk for the clinical personnel?
Answer: Because the controls of many medical devices require a material with human orgin linke blood or urine, a risk for health isn't totally impossible.
Although each human donor used in the preparation of this products has been tested and found to be negative or non-reactive for the presence of infectuous deseases, and the manufacturer  carry out investigations to test the material no method can offer complete assurance that infectious agents are absent, the material should be handled as potentially infectious and used only from clinical personnel for in vitro diagnostic.

Question: How long are the blood controls usable?
Answer: The blood controls are made of human blood and change their composition by time. Therefore they can use only a certain time, although refrigerated.
The coustomer gets the controls in regular batches with a assay sheet and the expiry date.
To use the controls until the expiry date, it is necessary to  transport and store the vials under refrigerated conditions and to prepare the control before use according the instructions.

Answer: The customer gets the batches of the new blood controls with the assay sheet. If you lose the assay sheet or need a new, you can find the actual sheets in the web on www.werteblatt.de or www.assaysheet.de.
